British Prime minister Boris Johnson gives Captain Sir Tom Moore, the 100-year-old British war veteran who became a national hero for his extraordinary fundraising efforts during the pandemic, a round of applause in recognition of his record-breaking achievements. Moore raised nearly £33 million ($45 million, 37 million euros) for UK health service charities by completing 100 lengths of his garden before his 100th birthday last April. Moore died in hospital in Bedford, southern England, after receiving treatment for pneumonia and testing positive for coronavirus. IMAGES

Au CES 2025, Tom Pritsky, un jeune inventeur malentendant, vient présenter un produit dont il a rêvé toute sa vie : des lunettes qui sous-titrent ce qu’elles entendent. Nous avons brièvement essayé ce produit dédié à l’accessibilité. Une des premières grandes tendances du CES 2025, le grand salon de Las Vegas dédié à l’innovation, est sans conteste les lunettes connectées. Longtemps boudé par les consommateurs, ce segment a été grandement popularisé par les Meta Ray-Ban, les lunettes de Facebook sorties en 2023. De nombreux constructeurs annoncent au CES des produits toujours plus polyvalents, souvent avec des fonctions que personne n’a vraiment réclamées. Au milieu de cette foire aux gadgets, une start-up a particulièrement retenu notre attention : Captify. Sa proposition revient aux bases de l’innovation, avec un produit pensé pour un but unique, mais potentiellement révolutionnaire pour beaucoup : sous-titrer le monde pour les personnes sourdes et malentendantes.
Un mois seul, dans le noir : de quoi « péter un câble » ? Très probablement. L’expérience du streamer Norme le montre, après 560 heures de live, non-stop. Le 16 octobre dernier, le streamer Norme s’est lancé dans un défi : passer 30 jours seul, complètement dans le noir. Il a déjà passé plus de 500 heures en isolement, non sans difficultés. Ce 16 octobre, le streamer Norme a lancé un live, « 1 mois d’isolement sans lumière », pour voir « s’il allait devenir fou ». Il lui reste 8 jours à tenir, soit un peu moins de 200 heures. Qu’est-ce qu’il fait durant ce live ? Pas grand-chose en vérité. On le voit faire les cent pas, parler « tout seul » à lui-même ou à sa communauté. Il faut reconnaître qu’il n’y a rien à faire, comme en témoigne la pièce dans laquelle il est : quatre murs, peu de place et simplement un matelas sur le sol. Depuis le début du live sur YouTube, un énorme trou s’est formé dans un mur et on devine pourquoi.
