2020 Mazda CX-5 Product Film

Description

Launched in 2012, the original CX-5 was the first Mazda to feature both Kodo - Soul of Motion design and Skyactiv technology. It set new dynamic standards, changing perceptions of how engaging a compact SUV could be.The second generation CX-5 of 2017 saw Mazda’s engineers deliver an SUV that takes the Jinba Ittai car-and-driver-as-one design and engineering philosophy to the next level. Complimented by the introduction of G-Vectoring Control (GVC), the first of Mazda’s Skyactiv-Vehicle Dynamic technologies, it became more comfortable, refined and responsive. The updated, 2019 Mazda CX-5 built on the many and diverse strengths of the second generation model with refinements focused on two key areas - cabin quality, and driving dynamics. Sharper and better to drive than ever, with greatly improved refinement, it cemented this vehicle’s reputation as one of the SUV segment’s most enjoyable driver’s cars.

Mazda is making only minor changes to the CX-5 for 2020. The company's i-Activsense suite of driver-assistance features is now standard across the lineup and includes automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlamps, and more. All models receive a new key fob we expect to match that of the new Mazda 3 sedan and hatchback, as well as Mazda's newly updated fonts on interior switches and exterior badging. Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models receive a new 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen display. The CX-5's standard 187-hp four-cylinder engine has great throttle response when pulling away from stoplights or hustling around town, so it feels quicker than it actually is. It's at higher speeds, such as when trying to pass or merge onto the freeway, that it feels underpowered. The 250-hp turbocharged version we tested provided much quicker acceleration, shooting from zero to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. While the turbo engine also pairs with a snappy six-speed automatic transmission, it can only be had with all-wheel drive.

The Mazda CX-3 is a small SUV whose bold, edgy Kodo looks attract widespread appeal rather than polarising, whose go-anywhere flexibility is crossover at its best, and whose driving dynamics channel the spirit of the MX-5 roadster.Lightweight Skyactiv Technology gives the vehicle an unmatched liveliness on the road yet remarkable sophistication for its class. It’s smart, too, dynamically sending the clean diesel or petrol power where it is needed on all-wheel drive models. The optimised version of G-Vectoring Control – Mazda’s clever torque vectoring system – adds extra stability while also preventing driver fatigue.Numerous available features like the MZD Connect multimedia system, full-colour head-up display, and state-of-the-art active safety technology such as the newest editions of Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SBCS) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) only add distinct value to an already attractive package. Together with the ergonomic interior and subtly upscale furnishings, it’s a genuine all-rounder.
