According to Business Insider Bill Gates doesn't understand why people resist wearing masks. He made the comment on the first episode of his new podcast with actress Rashida Jones. What are these, like nudists?" the Microsoft founder said. "We ask you to wear pants. No American — or very few Americans — say that that's like some terrible thing." Gates said experts first based recommendations on what they knew about other respiratory viruses. However, he said COVID-19 turned out to be much different.
Business Insider reports that Costco is updating its mask policy. As of Monday, November 16, all shoppers, even those with medical conditions, will be required to wear a face mask or face shield in their stores. Costco initiated their mask policy in May, but made an exception for people who have medical conditions. Now, if you have a medical condition, and cannot wear a mask, you must wear a face shield in Costco. Costco CEO Craig Jelinek wrote a note to shoppers which said, "This updated policy may seem inconvenient to some, however we believe the added safety is worth any inconvenience." Costco's updated policy comes as COVID-19 cases recently surpassed 10 million in the U.S. Experts say that cases will continue to surge if the U.S. government does not reintroduce more stringent restrictions.
