Speaking at a press conference alongside the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, reveals a new round of sanctions against Moscow over its latest "escalation" in Ukraine. The new sanctions include a cap on the price of Russian oil and a ban on exports from the country worth seven billion euros ($7 billion). The announcement comes as the Kremlin-installed leaders of Russian-held regions in Ukraine have been claiming victory in what Von der Leyen describes as "sham" referendums on joining the Russian Federation. The damage wrought by Hurricane Irma left Orlando’s main interstate road with a gigantic hole as seen in drone footage captured on Tuesday. The receding 100 mph winds literally bit a chunk out of an intersection where the I-4 meets the 434 Longwood. Crews have already been called in and are working hard to get the highway back up and running to four lanes as soon as possible, but engineering estimates indicate that the repairs will take about a month to be completed.
Oil prices have jumped over 3 percent to their highest since October 2015. As Sonia Legg reports, it follows growing Nigerian oil output disruptions and long-time bear Goldman Sachs saying the market had ended almost two years of oversupply.
