Instagram Introduces Standalone Messaging App

Description

Instagram is reportedly testing a standalone version of its direct messaging service, called Direct. The test was first spotted by The Verge. Direct, which opens to the camera in the same way Snapchat does, will become available on Android and iOS on Monday in six countries: Chile, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, and Uruguay. If a person installs Direct, the inbox disappears from the Instagram app and can only be accessed in the messaging app.
