Honda and Toyota unveiled some rad new sports concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show on Wednesday. Honda's sleek Sports EV puts a retro twist on modern electric sports vehicles. Toyota unveiled a targa top speedster called the GR HV Sports Concept. The new concepts may signify a deeper design shift for the Japanese auto giants, with a greater focus on electric and hybrid vehicles potentially coming in the near future.
The fifth-generation Toyota Supra finally made its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The final production model may still be a ways off, but the GR Supra Concept will be available in "Gran Turismo Sport" starting in April. After four generations, Supra production ended in 2002, having disappeared from the U.S. after 1998 after years of slow sales. The Japanese automaker is committed to bringing back its iconic sports car and essentially confirms that it will have a big presence in motorsports (just like the old Supra) when this compact sports car finally does debut.
This is what the future of travel by car might look like. Toyota unveiled their Concept I self-driving car featuring an artificial intelligence assistant and other technology that made jaws drop at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last Friday. The car features an artificially intelligent assistant called 'Yui' and a biometrics detector of users' faces in order to read human emotions and offer a better emotional experience while using the vehicle. Imagine being able to read a book or spend time answering emails on your entire morning commute to work or simply entering a vacation destination into your navigation and sleep the entire way there. Toyota's Concept I is one small step in that direction.

The Toyota RAV4 pulls on the tracksuit: After the successful introduction in other model series, the compact SUV bestseller will also be rolling out this year as the GR SPORT. A sharper design, a sportier interior and an improved chassis characterize the new Toyota RAV4 GR SPORT.Visually, the newest members of the family are based on the motorsport appearance of Toyota Gazoo Racing. Black wheel arches, side moldings and rear door panels set accents, as do the black "G-mesh" pattern on the radiator grille and the distinctively framed fog lights. The front spoiler, which is dark silver in the hybrid model, forms a harmonious contrast; the plug-in has a gunmetal gray specimen. The subtle GR badges on the front and rear door also refer to the sporty variant. The RAV4 GR SPORT is also the first Toyota model to feature light-alloy wheels that are manufactured using a high-precision line-cutting process. The 19-inch gloss black wheels feature subtle machined pinstripes that underscore the bold five-double-spoke design. The electrically adjustable front seats have a suede look and artificial leather bolsters – the materials are free from animal products. The sporty character of the top model is indicated by the black GR logo on the headrests and silver contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel and gear lever. The "gunmetal" gray is reflected in the trim strips on the doors and steering wheel.
