This devastating drone footage shows the shocking aftermath of a gas explosion in Russia's Volgograd which completely gutted out the entire middle section of an apartment building, as if it had been split in two. At least two people died in the blast, which caused the whole central block to collapse. It is unknown just how many people were in their homes and minding their own business when the blast occurred, authorities have not given out information regarding the amount of people still trapped beneath the rubble of what used to be home sweet home. According to Andrei Bocharov, the Governor of the Volgograd Region, the gas explosion in the four-story residential building occured as a result of a damaged pipeline, which reportedly occurred when construction workers tried to access the pipe without complying with safety standards. The rescue operation is ongoing.
CCTV footage captured the moment a gas explosion ripped through a high-rise flat in the city of Ryazan, about 120 miles southeast of Moscow, in the early hours of Sunday, sending a huge boom through the neighborhood and a massive shower of concrete and debris on to cars parked below. A total of three people died and more than dozens were injured in the incident. The blast caused structural damage to the top floors of the 11-story flat. More than 70 people were placed in a temporary shelter set in a nearby school. An investigation into what caused the explosion is currently underway.

Algeria has helped Europe diversify its energy supplies by pumping more gas to Italy, French President Emmanuel Macron says during a visit to Africa's top gas exporter. Dismissing suggestions that Italy and France were "in competition" for Algerian gas, Macron welcoms a deal Algeria signed last month to pump more gas to Italy. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen warns that "Russia is blackmailing" EU member states and "using energy as a weapon." Russian President Vladimir Putin has played hot and cold in recent days with his threats to cut off gas deliveries to the bloc of 27 members, but Brussels is asking EU countries to prepare for the worst.
