Ancient Baby Bird Found in 99 Million-Year-Old Amber

Description

The remains of a baby bird have been discovered in 99-million-year-old amber. According to researchers, the hatchling belonged to a group of birds known as Enantiornithes which went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, about 65 million years ago. The fossil was found in the Hukawng Valley in northern Myanmar. The bird was said to be in its first days or weeks of life when it was enveloped in amber and literally frozen in time.
