Škoda is adding a third model to its European SUV portfolio: the Škoda Kamiq. As with the successful Škoda Kodiaq and Karoq, the name Kamiq also originates from the language of the Inuit people who live in northern Canada and Greenland: it means something that fits perfectly. Sitting in the growing city SUV segment, the Škoda Kamiq perfectly combines the advantages of a sport utility vehicle - such as higher ground clearance and a comfortable seating position - with the agility of a compact car. Seventy years ago, ŠKODA nearly created a sensation at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The ŠKODA Sport car performed well and was driving on the top of its class. Little broken small part in engine caused that the car did not finished. 35 apprentices from the ŠKODA Vocational School have reached the pinnacle of their training year: following eight months of intense work, they presented a spectacular pickup based on the ŠKODA KODIAQ in the shape of the ŠKODA MOUNTIAQ. Sporting a specially designed Sunset Orange paint finish, this concept car impresses with numerous visual highlights such as a light bar on the roof and a distinctive front featuring a winch, bullbar and special lighting effects. For the sixth consecutive time, the project acts as a showcase for the apprentices' technical skills.A total of 35 ŠKODA apprentices from seven different career paths, among them six women, were involved in the development and production of the ŠKODA MOUNTIAQ. The sixth consecutive Student Car is a one-off and the remarkable result of months of work. During the course of the project, the apprentices were supported by their instructors as well as ŠKODA experts from the Design, Production and Technical Development departments.As Carsten Brandes, Head of the ŠKODA Academy, points out, "Like its predecessor models, the ŠKODA MOUNTIAQ highlights the exceptional technical competence and craftsmanship of our students. Year after year, their work demonstrates the superior quality of the professional training at our vocational school."The name ŠKODA MOUNTIAQ conveys a spirit of adventure and off-road flair, combining the appeal of a contemporary lifestyle vehicle with the extraordinary everyday usability of a pickup. The rear of the spectacular concept car bears the ŠKODA wordmark in individual letters - a design element introduced in Europe with the new ŠKODA models SCALA and KAMIQ.
"The upper MMI touch response display is the central element of the interior of the Audi Q8. With its black-panel look, it almost dissolves into a large, black surface when switched off. Simple, easy-to-understand symbols stand for the digital precision from Audi and for the high level of integration of the architecture and operation - simplicity replaces complexity. All fundamental lines originate from the large display, for example the continuous air vent strip with integrated chrome fins and an elegant aluminium-look strip. The slender dashboard and the calm lines with a strong horizontal focus highlight the impression of width conveyed by the interior of the Audi Q8. The styling in the interior is deliberately clean and simple. All elements have a logical connection and harmonise with one another: from the ""wrap around"" - the large arch running from the front doors across the instrument panel - to the operating unit for the light, which is finished in a black-panel look with a touch surface. All this combined gives the interior a feeling of calm. Designed as an independent geometric body, the console of the centre tunnel with its generous area visualises the robust character of the SUV. In the dark, the contour light traces the distinctive design lines of the interior and provides backlight for the three-dimensionally lasered quattro badge above the glove compartment - an example for the love of detail at Audi." "The fifth concept car created by students at the ŠKODA Vocational School has been named the ŠKODA Sunroq. For around eight months, 23 students from seven different professions worked on the concept of a cabriolet version based on the popular compact SUV ŠKODA KAROQ. One of the last steps in the project was finding a suitable name for the vehicle. To facilitate this, the students invited ŠKODA customers and fans to submit suggestions via different social media channels. In the end, Sunroq was chosen from among several hundred proposed names – the students found that it suited their cabriolet perfectly given its openness to the sun, which makes it an ideal vehicle for a summer holiday. The author of the winning submission was invited to the SUNROQ’s official presentation. He will meet with the students and their teachers and will be even able to go on a drive in the functional concept car, which has a Velvet Red paint finish."
