Walking Dead Star Quits Social Media After Receiving Death Threats

Online harassment and death threats have caused one key member of the Walking Dead cast to walk away from social media, shutting down his Instagram and Twitter accounts. Josh McDermitt, who has played the role Eugene Porter on the AMC series since 2014, regularly engaged with fans and followers on the platform but got to a point where enough was enough with negativity beginning to take over. The actor said in his farewell video post, "You can hate Eugene, I don't care. You can think whatever you want but when you start saying you hope I die, I don't know if you're talking about Josh or Eugene." McDermitt did conclude his video in a high note for the fans he has always appreciated, saying, "I love you guys." The Walking Dead is set to return for its eighth season in October of 2017.
