The head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group said on Wednesday his forces had taken full control of the eastern part of the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned the Russian army would have an "open road" into eastern Ukraine if it captures the besieged city.
The battle for the strategically important industrial city has been going on since the summer and has led to great destruction and heavy losses on both sides.
