The Russian gymnastics team arrived in Rio de Janeiro, on Monday, following the International Olympic Committee's decision not to enforce a blanket ban on Russian athletes participating in the upcoming Rio Olympic Games.

The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, delivers the official invitations to take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics to several representatives of the National Olympic Committees, including Greece, the United States, Japan and the Refugee Olympic Team. IMAGES
Olympic chief Thomas Bach says that a decision on Russian and Belarusian participation at next year's Paris Olympics will be taken "at the appropriate time". Athletes from both countries have faced differing sanctions from a multitude of sports since Russia invaded Ukraine in February last year. SOUNDBITE
In a video address at a conference of sports ministers in London, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has called for a boycott of the 2024 Paris games over the possible participation of Russian athletes, says their presence would be a "manifestation of violence." SOUNDBITE
The International Olympic Committee has "full confidence in the French security authorities" ahead of the Paris Olympics, president Thomas Bach says following the IOC's Executive Board meeting. The statement from Bach plays down any security fears in the wake of crowd control issues at the Stade de France in May's Champions League football final. It also comes a day after violence broke out in the Europa Conference League game between Nice and Cologne. SOUNDBITE
