Rosalia Messina Denaro, the sister of a top Sicilian mafia boss, was arrested for allegedly helping her brother run his criminal operations while he was in hiding.
The Italian police have discovered a new hideout of the recently captured Cosa Nostra boss Messina Denaro who was on the run for over thirty years
Sicilian godfather Matteo Messina Denaro is escorted out of a police station by officers and transferred to a minivan. Denaro's capture in Palermo ended a 30-year manhunt for Italy's most wanted fugitive - a leading figure in Cosa Nostra, the real-life Sicilian crime syndicate depicted in the Godfather movies. The mobster was caught inside a health facility where he had gone for therapeutic treatment for his colon cancer.
Matteo Messina Denaro was nabbed at a medical clinic in Palermo where he had apparently gone for treatment.
"A dark chapter is ending" say residents in the birthplace of Toto Riina, one of the most feared Godfathers in the history of the Sicilian Mafia, after he died after battling cancer.
