Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has never asked for Western troops to fight Russia's invasion, the White House says after French President Emmanuel Macron said he would not rule out the idea. "President Zelensky isn't asking for that, he's just asking for the tools and capabilities. He's never asked for foreign troops to fight for his country," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron urges members of the US Congress to approve a Ukraine aid package. "We should be standing up for freedom, standing up for the right of this country to defend itself and making sure that Putin doesn't win," he says while on a visit to Bulgaria. The Republican leader of the US House of Representatives blocked war aid for Ukraine on February 13, ignoring President Joe Biden's plea that passing the bill was vital for standing up to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The European Union's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has announced that all of the bloc's foreign ministers were for the first time meeting beyond its borders, in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. "We are convening a historic meeting of EU Foreign Ministers here in Ukraine, candidate country and future member of the EU.
