In April 2020, a coronavirus stimulus check of $2,000 was sent to most American adults. Eight months later, Congress agreed on a $900 billion coronavirus relief bill. The new bill would send out another stimulus check, this time worth $600. On Tuesday, Pres. Donald Trump said the checks should be worth $2,000. According to Insider polling, 72% of Trump supporters think $600 is too small.
The COVID-19 relief bill has languished for months, with no signs that congress will ever approve it. Now, Business Insider reports that Democrats are ready to do anything to get the relief passed. A number of Democrats said they may drop demands for state and local government aid in a forthcoming COVID-19 stimulus bill. AP reports that Dick Durbin and Chris Coons would back a slimmed-down $748 billion compromise deal which omits the support. The bipartisan group trimmed off state and local government aid, and legal protections for businesses. These now form part of a separate $160 billion proposal, which has less chance of passing.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo thinks one vaccine could receive FDA emergency authorization. Pfizer and BioNTech's vaccine is the one he was alluding to on Thursday. An independent advisory panel will vote on whether to recommend an emergency use authorization. Several top health officials have said they expect the vaccine to get authorized on Thursday. However, at least one FDA official has said the process could take up to a week after the panel's vote.

They are also hopeful that Biden will have science-led approach to the coronavirus. This would be "less stressful for healthcare providers", according to reports at Business Insider. But some are disheartened that the country's poor handling of COVID-19 did not change voting. Many assumed the mishandling under Trump would drive more voters to vote for Biden.
