Thousands of Cubans take to the streets in rare protests


Clashes between protesters and police break out across Cuba as thousands take part in rare protests against the communist regime. The anti-government rallies started spontaneously in several cities as Cuba endures its worst economic crisis in 30 years, with chronic shortages of food, electricity, and medicine. Counter-demonstrations emerged as some showed their support for the government.
