For more than a decade, Nissan LEAF has represented the company's commitment to bringing all-electric mobility to the masses. Nissan continues that focus with the 2023 LEAF, with a refreshed exterior design, new aluminum-alloy wheels and a revised lineup to deliver maximum value for EV customers.The updated LEAF makes its debut at the 2022 New York International Auto Show prior to its summer on-sale date.The 2023 LEAF will be available in two grade levels, LEAF S and LEAF SV PLUS. The tailored model lineup reflects the most customer-requested features and technologies, offered at the best value.The updates to the 2023 LEAF include an enhanced front end appearance, with a refreshed front grille, bumper molding and headlights that feature a new black inner finisher. The Nissan badge is now illuminated and has been updated to the brand's new design identity.In addition, the shapes of the tire deflectors at all four corners, rear under diffuser and rear spoiler have all been modified for better aerodynamics.The 2023 LEAF SV PLUS also comes standard with an aggressive new 5-spoke 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheel.Inside, changes for the 2023 model year include the new Nissan badge on the steering wheel and a new start-up video on the instrument panel screen. Black cloth is standard on both trims, with gray finishers for LEAF S and gloss black finishers for LEAF SV Plus.
Nissan has unveiled a 100% electric emergency response vehicle concept, designed to provide a mobile power supply following natural disasters or extreme weather events.Called RE-LEAF, the working prototype is based on the Nissan LEAF passenger car, the world’s first mass-production electric vehicle.Alongside modifications to navigate roads covered in debris, the RE-LEAF features weatherproof plug sockets mounted directly to the exterior of the vehicle, which enable 110 to 230-volt devices to be powered from the car’s high-capacity lithium-ion battery.The RE-LEAF can be driven into the centre of a disaster zone and provide a fully mobile power supply to aid the recovery process. The integrated energy management system can run medical, communications, lighting and other life-supporting equipment.
As the technology flagship for the entire Nissan lineup, the Nissan LEAF has been the embodiment of Nissan Intelligent Mobility since the debut of the original LEAF in 2010. Since launch, Nissan LEAF has been one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the world1. Now, entering its second decade, LEAF receives a number of significant enhancements for 2020 – starting with the addition of Nissan Safety Shield 360 across all grade levels.For 2020, five models are available with LEAF – the 40 kWh S and SV, along with the 62 kWh S PLUS, SV PLUS and top-of-the-lineup SL PLUS. Key additions for 2020 include: Nissan Safety Shield 360 now standard on all models: Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist Additional standard features on all models include Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Blind Spot Intervention Standard 8-inch color touchscreen display on all 40 kWh LEAF grades LEAF S features standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Driver and front passenger knee supplemental air bags, rear seat-mounted outboard side-impact supplemental air bags added to all models Intelligent Around View Monitor and Intelligent Driver Alertness added to SV Technology Package New Sunset Drift ChromaFlair premium color (late availability)The 2020 LEAF also comes with a new sound – the car’s two pedestrian safety sounds receive updates in tone and volume. For the U.S. market, LEAF uses a new tone known as "Canto" (derived from the Latin verb for "I sing") for forward movement under 18.6 mph and a pulsing chime when reversing. The vehicle volume was updated to meet updated U.S. electric vehicle regulations that go into effect Sept. 1, 2020. To make the sounds more apparent, an additional speaker was added inside the engine compartment.
The new 2019 Nissan LEAF e+ has a 62 kWh battery pack and an EPA-estimated range of up to 226 miles. Sales in the U.S. are expected to begin in spring 2019.
