  • Seat - The car that communicates with traffic lights

What colour will the next traffic light be if I continue to drive at this speed? The answer to this question no longer depends on driver intuition, but rather on technology. A project led by SEAT, in collaboration with the Spanish Traffic Authority, the Barcelona City Council and ETRA successfully connects vehicles with traffic lights and the traffic control centre so drivers can anticipate their upcoming status. This project also enables information on motorway incidents to get sent directly to vehicles without the need for information panels, bringing cars and infrastructure together via the cloud using cellular technology with latency times of 300 milliseconds.

  • Shocking Crash After Wind Turbine Dislodges from Semi Truck on German Autobahn

This giant wind turbine blade fell across the A33 autobahn, near Bielefeld, Germany on Tuesday, after a vehicle collided with the turbine blade transporter and caused it to come loose. The giant blade rolled across the German highway and collided with a nearby truck, completely destroyed its cabin. Amazingly, the driver of the semi received only light injuries. Firefighters arrived to the scene quickly and blocked off all traffic in order to deal with the bizarre accident. Vehicles were stuck on the congested motorway in queues that extended for miles, as police and emergency teams shut down the autobahn in both directions. Germany is one of the world's largest producers of wind turbines and one of the world's biggest consumers of energy generated by wind. A commercial wind turbine usually costs between 3 and 4 million dollars to produce and install.
