Defence experts discuss the options available to Ukraine's generals and politicians for its counter-offensive against Russia's full scale invasion.
The fight for Bakhmut, a city in eastern Ukraine and scene of the longest-running battle since Moscow's offensive, is far from over, the head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group said Tuesday. Bakhmut has been at the centre of months of heavy fighting in Russia's nearly year-long offensive in Ukraine, with both sides suffering heavy losses.
Images published by the Russian Defence Ministry show Kamov Ka-52 combat helicopters taking off and launching air strikes, purportedly on an alleged Ukrainian target.
Ukrainian drones damaged at least two military planes at an airport in Russia's northwest, officials said Wednesday, as several other Russian regions were targeted in a massive overnight attack. The attack on Pskov airport, roughly 700 kilometres (more than 400 miles) from the border with Ukraine, marked the latest strike to rock Russian territory since Kyiv vowed to "return" the conflict to Russia in July.
