  • As Americans Head To The Polls, The Stock Market Smiles

US stock markets opened with optimism Tuesday, as tens of millions of Americans head to the polls to decide who will be the next US president. According to Markets Insider, analysts say the upward bounce was a reaction to the end of the uncertainty surrounding who will get the top job. Fundstrat's Tom Lee said in a note to clients on Tuesday that the result would rally stocks, regardless of who won. If Democratic nominee Joe Biden wins, Lee expects a 10% rally. Former DHS chief of staff Miles Taylor called working under Trump 'terrifying," saying many things Trump wanted the department to do were illegal. Former White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, says he'll be voting for Biden. And former national security adviser John Bolton won't be voting for Trump or Biden. • As Trump Languishes At Walter Reed, Staffers Struggle To Maintain 'Strong Man' Image

Over the course of the novel coronavirus pandemic, US President Donald Trump has admitted to have knowingly downplayed the seriousness of the illness. So when Trump tested positive for COVID-19 early on Friday, experts say it may now be difficult for him and his administration to be trusted. Specifically, Business Insider reports it may be difficult for Trump to navigate a public image as a 'strong leader,' given his long track record of lies. USC communications professor Karen North says that as Trump's stance on the pandemic has been dismissive of the threat, he can't change tune quickly. He's out of commission on a topic that just went in opposition to his rhetoric. And so they now have a messaging problem, and they're going to have to figure out what their message is going to be.
