The Asus Padfone 2 is a high-end Android smartphone which comes with a dummy 10in tablet docking station. Asus calls it a 2-in-1 set. Here's our video review of the Asus Padfone 2.
Another day, another smartwatch. While all models running Android Wear are starting to blend together, manufacturers are determined to find new ways for them to stand out. The latest effort comes from tech giant Asus with the arrival of its ZenWatch 2, which was announced on Monday at tech conference Computex in Taiwan. Available in two sizes — small and large (the first ZenWatch just had one option — the ZenWatch 2 has 18 different strap materials and casing color options, including silver, gunmetal and rose gold. Although it looks a little like the Apple Watch — especially the rose gold model — the Asus has a lot going for it, including battery life. The company said it can last up to four days on one charge compared to Apple's one-day limitation.
The last time Asus launched a smartphone in North America, it was a complete failure. Do you even remember the PadFone 2? No? Of course you don't. It was a silly product. The ZenFone 2 is a back to basics approach: $199 gets you an unlocked 5.5-inch smartphone, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via a microSD card slot), 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera. It's a nice bundle of specs to start, but what you really want is the $299 model, which bumps up the processor to a faster 2.3GHz, doubles the RAM to 4GB and quadruples the internal storage to 64GB.
