The future of Volvo Cars is electric and the new Volvo C40 Recharge is the latest manifestation of its commitment to a zero emission future. The C40 Recharge has all the benefits of an SUV but with a lower and sleeker design. It is based on the CMA vehicle platform and the first Volvo model in history designed as pure electric only. Following the introduction of the XC40 Recharge and now the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will roll out several additional electric models in coming years. Already by 2025, it aims for 50 per cent of its global sales volume to consist of fully electric cars, with the rest hybrids. By 2030, it plans for every car it sells to be pure electric.
The Volvo C40 Recharge is the first Volvo model in the company’s history to be designed as pure electric only. The C40 Recharge is based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), an advanced vehicle platform co-developed within the Geely Group which provides Volvo with the necessary economies of scale for this segment.The C40 Recharge has all the benefits of an SUV but with a lower and sleeker design featuring improved aerodynamics. It features a striking rear-end design to go with this lower roofline, while the new front design introduces a new face for electric Volvos and includes headlights with state-of-the-art pixel technology.Inside, the C40 Recharge offers the high seating position that most Volvo drivers prefer, and is available in colour and decor options unique to the model. It is also the first Volvo model with a completely leather-free interior.

The all-electric Volvo C40 Recharge, which was recently awarded the Top Safety Pick+ by the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its exceptional level of safety, comes with an additional drive variant: As a supplement to the all-wheel drive version, an entry-level model with a 170 kW (231 hp) electric motor and front-wheel drive available. In conjunction with a 69 kWh high-voltage battery, it offers a range of up to 423 kilometers in the combined WLTP cycle. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent within 32 minutes at fast charging stations. The starting price for the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric is 48,850 euros (RRP including 19% VAT). The Volvo C40 Recharge Single Motor Pure Electric expands the all-electric range of the Swedish premium car manufacturer. The company wants to encourage even more people to switch to electromobility. From 2030, only fully electrically powered models will be sold.
