Description

Urban mobility with purely electric drive can now also be experienced in hallmark MINI style. The new MINI Cooper SE makes it possible. It combines sustainable mobility with the riding fun, expressive design and premium quality that are typical of MINI. As such, the first solely electrically powered model of the British brand offers pure MINI feeling with locally emissions-free driving. The spontaneous power delivery of its 135 kW/184 hp motor, the brand-specific front-wheel drive, and the innovative driving dynamics system with wheel slip limiting close to the actuator, give the new MINI Cooper SE a particularly intense and unmistakable agility, known as the go-kart feeling. Its model-specific lithium-ion battery enables a range of 235 to 270 kilometres. The high-voltage battery is situated deep in the vehicle floor, ensuring there are no limitations in terms of luggage compartment volume as compared to the conventionally powered MINI 3-door.With the new MINI Cooper SE, the British brand once again sets a pioneering impetus for urban mobility. 60 years ago, the revolutionary design principle of the classic Mini established the basis for maximum interior space within a minimum surface area. The MINI was launched in 2001 - a modern re-interpretation of creative space usage and unique riding fun that became the original in the premium segment of small cars. The new MINI Cooper SE will be the first purely electric premium small car, paving the way to a sustainable yet at the same time highly emotional driving experience in urban traffic.

The cable for domestic socket fits easily in your boot. AC charging stations require a special charging cable. You’ll also find it in the trunk of your MINI– or at the A/C charging station itself. Make sure the permitted charging current is established by an electrician. You can adjust the charging current in your MINI. Select 'MY MINI', 'Plan charging/climate control', and then 'Settings charging current'. Here you can change the settings. Find the exact charging currents in the Operating Manual.

The new MINI Cooper SE is fitted as standard with a model-specific instrument cluster consisting of a 5.5-inch colour screen in Black Panel design behind the steering wheel. At the centre of this fully digital screen, the road speed is shown in figures with a peripheral scale band. The speed band is also displayed in the light ring of the central instrument - in red (SPORT mode), white (MID) or green (GREEN and GREEN+), according to the mode selected.Other digital displays in the instrument cluster provide information on the charge level of the high-voltage battery, the currently selected MINI Driving Mode, the status of the driver assistance systems and Check Control messages. In addition, details of the range available, current drive power, outside temperature, time and mileage are displayed, along with traffic sign detection reports and high-guiding directions from the navigation system. What is more, it is possible to access telephone contact and audio programme lists.During charging, the digital instrument panel likewise supplies important information. If the vehicle is connected to a power socket or charging station, it is possible to read not just the time and outside temperature but also the available range and the charge status in per cent. The time is also displayed at which the high-voltage battery will be fully charged. The colour of the panel changes depending on the situation: from orange during initialisation to yellow in the course of the charging process, and green when the energy reserves are fully refreshed. Any charging error is indicated by means of red colouring.Other special interior features include the model-specific gear selector lever on the centre console. The new MINI Cooper SE is all about locally emission-free mobility. And at the media presentation of the new MINI Cooper SE (fuel consumption combined: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.8 – 14.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) everything is geared towards sustainability. The international press presentation of the purely electrically powered production model of the British premium brand will be carried out in a CO2 neutral manner. Test drives with 100 percent green electricity, consistently resource-saving event design and compensation payments for certified climate protection projects make it possible to reduce the ecological footprint of the new MINI Cooper SE to zero when it makes its first appearance before media representatives from all over the world. The international media launch of the new MINI Cooper SE will take place in January 2020 in Miami, Florida. Here the entire test car fleet can be supplied exclusively with electricity from renewable sources. This gives media representatives the opportunity to complete their test drives and the round trips for film and photo shoots completely emission-free. The CO2 emissions generated by the arrival and departure of the MINI Team and journalists from all regions of the world are offset by the purchase of environmental certificates. Compensation will also be paid for all other greenhouse gases that cannot be avoided in connection with the event. The certificates acquired for this purpose will benefit a wind energy project in South America selected according to the highest international standards. The proceeds from the acquisition of the environmental certificates will be used to expand the Peralta wind farm in Uruguay. There, 25 turbines will cover the electricity needs of around 50,000 households. The wind farm has been recognized as a pioneering project by the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at Harvard University. It helps to further increase the share of renewable energy in Uruguay's electricity mix and thus supports the country's plan to achieve complete climate neutrality by 2030. In addition, a project for the use of wind energy in the south of Argentina is being supported. In the Patagonia region, the country's largest plant of its kind, covering an area of around 1500 hectares and using 43 wind turbines, supplies climate-neutral electricity to the national grid. The new MINI Cooper SE is powered by a 135 kW/184 hp electric motor that accelerates it from zero to 60 km/h in 3.9 seconds and from zero to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Its space-saving high-voltage lithium-ion battery, which is located in the vehicle floor, enables a range of 235 to 270 kilometres. A conventional household socket outlet is sufficient for charging, alternatively the MINI ELECTRIC Wallbox is available. To make charging up really quick, rapid charging stations with a capacity of up to 50 kW can be used.
