Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky warns European leaders that Russia's Vladimir Putin would exploit any failure to agree to launch his country's EU membership talks. "People in Europe won't see any benefit if Moscow receives a pass from Brussels in the form of negativity towards Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that Ukraine is counting on the United States and that military aid delays are "dreams come true" for Russian leader Vladimir Putin. In a reference to congressional wrangling over a new military assistance package to Ukraine, he says "if there's anyone inspired by unresolved issues on Capitol Hill, it's just Putin and his sick clique." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrives in Bucharest for security talks with his Romanian counterpart after a series of Russian strikes on Ukraine's Danube ports near the Romanian border. "I arrived in Bucharest, Romania, for talks with (President) Klaus Iohannis and to strengthen our good-neighbourly relations," Zelensky said on social media. He said they would discuss "further security cooperation". Last month, NATO member Romania found drone debris several times near its border with Ukraine. This is the first time Zelensky has visited neighbouring Romania -- which has become essential to Kyiv's grain exports -- since the start of the war. IMAGES

UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, evokes the spirit of Winston Churchill as he welcomes Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, in the room from which Britain's World War Two leader made some of his most famous speeches. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denies Moscow's claims that Kyiv attempted to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin, after Russia claimed two drones were shot down at the Kremlin. "We didn't attack Putin or Moscow. We fight on our territory, we are defending our villages and cities," Zelensky tells reporters at a joint press conference with Nordic leaders in Helsinki. SOUNDBITE
