More Bang For Your Buck! How To Choose An Engagement Ring

Description

Ring Concierge founder Nicole Wegman designs and sells bespoke engagement rings on Instagram and advises clients to allocate budgets toward carat weight, not color or clarity. A round diamond is the best-selling shape for engagement rings, but it is not a best seller at Ring Concierge: The classic look costs 25% more than all other shapes. Wegman said she aims to provide clients with the biggest bang for their buck without sacrificing the look of a ring. Since 2013, Nicole Wegman's company, Ring Concierge, has designed engagement rings and sold diamonds on Instagram.

  • Study: Statins Deliver More Bang For The Buck In The Elderly

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says up to 29% of all adults in the United States, or about 70 million people, have high cholesterol. In addition to lifestyle changes around diet and exercise, prescription statin drugs can help control high cholesterol, which is liked to cardiovascular disease. Now, a new study reveals older adults benefit from statins at least as much as young people in reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart disease. According to UPI, researchers say that for every 80 people age 80 to 100 who take statins, one heart attack will be prevented. In contrast, three times that number of people between ages 50 and 59 would need to take the drugs to prevent one heart attack. Similarly, a second analysis shows statins reduce the risk for heart attack and stroke in people over 75 by 26% for every one-point reduction in LDL cholesterol.

  • Amazon Contractor Forces Workers To Choose: Catch COVID-19 Or Starve To Death

Employees of a call center contractor for Amazon are complaining of dangerous working conditions in the city of Cebu, in the Philippines. Business Insider reports workers say they're being forced to make an impossible choice: either become infected with COVID-19--or starve. The contractor, Teleperformance, provides call center services for Amazon's Ring video doorbell products. Dozens of the call center's employees have developed flu-like symptoms, which are characteristic of COVID-19 infection. As public transport has been shut down in Cebu, workers were sleeping on the floor at work so as not to arrive late for their shifts. Workers say that workstations aren't properly sanitized, and when shifts overlap, or when staff sleep on the floor, it's difficult to socially distance. Workers allege that cleaners come through sporadically and when they do, it's with a bucket of water and a towel. People are scared because we don't know who has it and who doesn't have it. But people don't have a choice, because it's either you will be infected or you will die of starvation. Contractor, Teleperformance
