Despite Clear Benefits, Most COPD Patients Never Receive This Critical Treatment

Description

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder, or COPD, is the fourth highest cause of death in the United States. And according to UPI, the vast majority of such patients never get follow up pulmonary rehabilitation. Research shows only 2%of more than 4,200 American COPD patients began pulmonary rehabilitation after six months of hospitalization. And among 6,100 COPD patients, only 2.7% received rehabilitation for their condition. Treatment includes exercise, self-management guidance, nutrition advice and emotional support.
