Canada's Trudeau Faces Growing Pressure To Reach NAFTA Deal

Description

According to a report by Reuters, political leaders and concerned business executives are increasing pressure on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to reach an agreement on a new NAFTA trade deal. Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland told reporters on Tuesday, "any negotiator who goes into a negotiation believing that he or she must get a deal at any price ... (will) be forced to pay the maximum price for that deal.” However, Reuters reports that signs are growing that domestic support for Ottawa's stance is beginning to fray amid fears of the potential economic fallout as the U.S.-imposed deadline of Oct. 1 looms.
