Even before war broke out, Israel’s southern city of Ashkelon was frequently targeted by Hamas rockets fired from Gaza. But now, the number of strikes have soared and some 30 percent of the city’s population has left for safer parts of the country. Our team on the ground went to meet those who have stayed and find out just how they are coping living under almost constant bombardment.
Hamas rocket attacks continue on Israel prompting many in Sderot to evacuate. The southern city is home to about 30,000 people but about 90% of its population have left. Our team on the ground met residents who are still living there.

After weeks of bombardment by Russian troops, the frontline Saltivka district of Kharkiv has become a ghost town. Most of the locals have fled the incessant Russian air strikes, and those who remain have had to take refuge in underground shelters as they are either too old, too unwell or too disabled to leave.
