Migrants rescued by a ship chartered by NGOs disembark in Sicily and are taken care of by the authorities. The Ocean Viking, chartered by SOS Méditerranée in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), rescued 114 people on December 16, including minors and two newborns who were on an inflatable boat in distress in international waters off the coast of Libya. The Ocean Viking humanitarian ship disembarks more than 230 rescued migrants, more than half of them unaccompanied minors, at an Italian port. Representing 15 different nationalities, the migrants had been stranded on two overloaded dinghies in international waters off the coast of western Libya before their rescue by the Ocean Viking.
