The Volvo XC40 Recharge is everything customers expect from a Volvo, with the addition of a state-of-the-art, fully electric all-wheel-drive powertrain that offers a range of more than 400km (249 miles) on a single charge and output of 408hp. The battery charges to 80 per cent of its capacity in 40 minutes on a fast-charger system.The Android-powered infotainment system is fully integrated with Volvo On Call, the company's digital connected services platform. Via Volvo On Call, plug-in hybrid drivers can track how much time they spend driving on electric power.

The large, 78 kWh battery can be fast-charged to 80 percent of its capacity in approximately 40 minutes on a DC fast-charger system of up to 150 kW under optimal charging conditions. The Volvo XC40 Recharge also introduces a brand-new infotainment system powered by Android with Google technologies built-in. The new system offers full integration of Android Automotive OS, Google’s open-source Android platform, with real-time updates to services such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and automotive apps created by the global developer community.

  • Fully electric Volvo XC40 introduces brand new infotainment system

    Volvo has detailed the infotainment system in its upcoming electric XC40 ahead of the car's unveiling next week. The firm claims the system, designed in partnership with Google and powered by Android, offers "unprecedented personalisation" and "improved levels of intuitiveness", courtesy of inbuilt Google features. The internet giant's Maps, Assistant and Play Store functions are included. The electric small SUV is also the first Volvo model to be capable of wireless software updates.The system is compatible with voice control, while Google's mapping software will offer live traffic updates and alternative route and charging station suggestions. The software will also improve the capabilities of the car's advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) by providing live speed limit and hazard warnings.

    The all-electric Volvo C40 Recharge, which was recently awarded the Top Safety Pick+ by the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its exceptional level of safety, comes with an additional drive variant: As a supplement to the all-wheel drive version, an entry-level model with a 170 kW (231 hp) electric motor and front-wheel drive available. In conjunction with a 69 kWh high-voltage battery, it offers a range of up to 423 kilometers in the combined WLTP cycle. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent within 32 minutes at fast charging stations. The starting price for the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric is 48,850 euros (RRP including 19% VAT). The Volvo C40 Recharge Single Motor Pure Electric expands the all-electric range of the Swedish premium car manufacturer. The company wants to encourage even more people to switch to electromobility. From 2030, only fully electrically powered models will be sold.
