The hearing date means TikTok's fate is secured until at least after the presidential election on November 3. Although the delay doesn't decide TikTok's future, it means that TikTok and ByteDance now have more than a month to weed through political tensions and deal negotiations to figure out what their next move should be in its fight against the US government.
Asked whether he expects a TikTok deal before of after the election, US President Donald Trump says he thinks "it could go quickly." Speaking to reporters at the White House, he tells them, "We have great companies talking to us about it." SOUNDBITE

Kyrgyzstan appears to have blocked TikTok after the Central Asian country's security services called to restrict the social media app to "protect children". Kyrgyzstan's digital ministry on April 16 said it had "informed telecommunications operators of the need to limit access to TikTok, based on a decision by the security services". IMAGES
