Taiwan’s vice president says China 'seriously underreported Covid-19 cases’

Description

Despite its geographical and cultural proximity to China, Taiwan has only recorder 440 cases of Covid-19 and 6 deaths since the beginning of the outbreak. Its Vice Presiden Chen Chien-jen, an epidemiologist by training, told FRANCE 24’s Marc Perelman that he thinks Beijing underreported China’s number of cases. He also discussed his country’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, while criticising the response of China and the World Health Organization. Chen refused to rule out the "possibility" that the coronavirus originated in a Chinese laboratory in Wuhan. He also expressed concern about a second wave of the virus appearing in autumn or winter.
