The receding 100 mph winds literally bit a chunk out of an intersection where the I-4 meets the 434 Longwood. Crews have already been called in and are working hard to get the highway back up and running to four lanes as soon as possible, but engineering estimates indicate that the repairs will take about a month to be completed.
The storm of the century has hit the American mainland as Hurricane Irma barreled into Naples, Florida on Sunday, downing trees and power lines and destroying property. Local residents looked on while wind and rain thrashed their neighborhood as the eye of the category three Hurricane descended on the city. However, officials say that Naples got off lucky and that the damage was far less than expected.
